Design Intervention in Bouarouss, Morocco
As part of our collaboration with Lam Alif, we developed a design intervention focused on creating modular, functional, and versatile classroom furniture for the Bouarouss region in Morocco. Analyzing the region's climate and topography, we ensured our proposal could withstand constant movement during transportation, a critical factor for this mountainous area.
Our design centers on a multifunctional desk that can transform into a bookshelf or a separate chair and table, optimizing space and providing extra storage. Designed with solid wood panels for durability, the desk includes features such as a removable cushion and fabric pouch to store up to six books. These elements also allow students to personalize their desks and engage with the design through sewing workshops, aligning with Lam Alif’s educational goals.
The desks were engineered to be easily assembled and disassembled using minimal tools, ensuring accessibility and ease of transportation for Lam Alif’s outreach programs. Through this project, we addressed the needs of various stakeholders—students, teachers, and staff—creating a piece of furniture that is both practical and adaptable to their classroom environment.
